First Rehearsal of Iolanthe

Jeffrey Jones-Ragona, musical director of the Gilbert and Sullivan of Austin's (GSSA) upcoming "Iolanthe"

Since my dear 'tween' son will be the train bearer in our upcoming "Iolanthe", I figured I'd give him a taste of the great vocal abilities of our cast. Him: chewing gum and leaving through his lego magazine, acting bored. Me: being totally thrilled even with the ordinary warm ups! If only I could sing ("with vim an' verve"!!). Ok, different production quote but I do have a brain and I do have a heart. Question is; if I was able to sing, would I have had the 'nerve'?? Yes yes I know..I'm totally reaching. Ok, out of your misery, off you go to the next best blog. But first, a few pics of the first rehearsal. I'm going to try to fenagle going to a few more with hopefully more pictures and, cross your fingers, an interview or two. (live-recording anyone??)

Jay Young (left) looking through his libretto before the rehearsal), Patricia Combs decided to be 'red' on a very dreary day. Patricia will be 'Leila' in Iolanthe.

Lo and behold, is that Russell Gregory sitting at the table?

Is made of silver, or of gold,
You long for simple pewter (The Gondoliers)
